Hey Guys, Recipe Dude is here with the brand new recipe of Southern Fried Chicken.
Southern Fried Chicken is also known as simply fried chicken, which consists of chicken pieces and is coated in a seasoned batter and deep-fried, pressure fried, and pan-fried.

SOUTHERN FRIED CHICKEN:
This recipe is prepared with well-balanced spices and crunch to bring out the best of Southern Fried Chicken.
INGREDIENTS:
- Milk 2 cups.
- Vinegar 2.5 tbsp.
- Cooking oil 2-3 cups to dip chicken pieces.
- Salt 2 tbsp.
- Garlic powder 1 tbsp.
- White pepper powder 1.5 tbsp.
- Cajun powder 2 tbsp.
- Paprika powder 2 tbsp.
- Onion powder 1 tbsp.
- Chicken powder 1 tbsp.
- Black pepper powder 1.5 tbsp.
- Dried thyme 1 tbsp.
- Dried Oregano 1 tbsp.
- Maida (All-purpose flour) 1 cup.
- Chicken with skin 1 Kg.
- Corn flour 1/2 cup.
- Cooking oil for frying.
DIRECTIONS:
STEP 1:
- In a bowl, add milk, vinegar and mix them.
- Cover and leave it for 30 minutes.
- Yeah! Buttermilk is ready.
STEP 2:
- Take another bowl, add paprika powder, white pepper powder, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, chicken powder, cajun powder, dried thyme, black pepper powder, dried oregano and mix them all well.
- Then set it aside.
STEP 3:
- Take another bowl, add 2 tbsp prepared spices in prepared buttermilk.
- Mix them well.
STEP 4:
- Take a bowl, add chicken pieces in a bowl.
- Cover and marinate for 4 hours in the refrigerator.
STEP 5:
- In a bowl, add all-purpose flour, cornflour, and remaining spices.
- Mix them all.
- Now mix coated marinated chicken pieces in dry flour mixture and coat well.
Deep Frying Chicken |
DEEP FRYING:
STEPS:
- In a wok(bowl-shaped frying pan), heat cooking oil and fry chicken pieces for 6-8 minutes until each side becomes golden brown on medium flame.
- Add 2-3 chicken pieces at a time.
FRYING IN PRESSURE COOKER:
STEPS:
- In pressure-cooker, add cooking oil and heat at 160°C.
- Add 2-3 chicken pieces at a time and pressure fry for about 8 minutes.
TIPS:
- NOTE: Check with the pressure cooker manufacturer to make sure yours is safe because not all pressure cookers are rated for use with oil. If the instruction does not mention oil frying, it probably means they don't want you to do it.
- Use a pressure cooker according to manufacturer directions.
- Make sure the weight is on the vent.
- Put the lid on the cooker and make sure it's even and seated well.
- When steam comes from vent and weight starts spinning then set a timer for 8-10 minutes. If the weight starts spinning fast, turn down the heat. It should keep spinning at a reasonable rate.
